Surrendering a pet is a difficult decision for any pet owner but much of the data shows that re-homing a persons pet and/or providing that person/family what they often time need to keep their pet with them is the ideal pathway to take.
Many publicly funded shelters such as Animal Care & Controls are required by law to take every animal that is dropped off at it’s door leaving very little room for animals to reside in the shelter in hopes of being adopted out. While Animal Care & Control does everything possible with the resources they have available
it’s just simply not enough.
Saving City Tails supports programs and rescues such as One Tail At a Time, Alive Rescue, Player For Pits, Fetching Tails, Live Like Roo, MCP Rescue and Outreach, and Chicago Canine Rescue that have formed a coalition in the local Chicago-land Community intervene at Chicago Animal Care and Control to implement help to keep pets with their owners if there is a fixable solution that can be worked through.
